  • Description

BioinfOmics federates and coordinates the support and service offerings of four INRAE platforms (Genotoul Bioinfo, Migale, PlantBioinfoPF, Sigenae) with complementary expertise in bioinformatics and biostatistics.

This e-infrastructure addresses the bioinformatics needs of life sciences in the context of massive data production and open science. One of its goals is to tackle bioinformatics challenges in the fields of agriculture, food, and the environment for a wide diversity of animal species, plants, and microorganisms.

BioinfOmics is a key player within the national research infrastructure for bioinformatics services, the IFB (French Institute of Bioinformatics), which consolidates, supports, and coordinates the development of bioinformatics platforms under public research organizations. Through this national infrastructure, BioinfOmics has benefited from funding from the "Investissements d'Avenir" program. IFB is also the French node of the European bioinformatics infrastructure: ELIXIR. BioinfOmics members are involved in the IFB steering committee, in projects it leads (PIA3 MuDiS4LS, ELIXIR-Converge, PPR ABRomics), and in the coordination of several IFB actions or those linked to it: training and user support missions, IFB representation in other national infrastructures (France Genomics), and the connection with ELIXIR (Deputy Head of Nodes, co-coordination of the ELIXIR plant community).

BioinfOmics’ support offering includes:

  • Hosting user/project accounts through the provision of a dedicated, scalable computing and storage infrastructure, equipped with general and specialized software and databases in the field, and providing user support;
  • The development and deployment of innovative resources such as software, databases, and information systems;
  • Assistance in the valorization of "omics" data for numerous applications in genomics, metagenomics, around sequencing data (assembly and annotation of (meta)genomes, data analysis (s)RNAseq, de novo RNAseq, methyl-seq, etc.), data integration services using statistical approaches and/or interoperable environments;
  • Dissemination of bioinformatics expertise through training cycles, tutoring, consulting, and user support.
