InfoSol

The mission of the InfoSol Service Unit is to set up and manage a national information system on soils, in terms of their spatial distribution, properties and changes in quality.

Within these different frameworks, the unit has two main groups of missions:

• to acquire, manage and develop soil data; to monitor the quality of these data
• to set up and manage information systems on French soils, enabling the data to be archived and made available to users.

The activities of the InfoSol Unit are carried out within the framework of INRAE's participation in a Groupement d'Intérêt Scientifique Sol (GIS Sol), which proposes a series of national programmes to facilitate and encourage the sustainable management of soil resources.
