GENOSOL
Soil Microbial Metagenomics Facility
- Description
- Description
The GenoSol platform focuses on soil (micro)biology. Its missions revolve around three main activities:
- a Conservatory of Microbial Genetic Resources,
- a Technical Platform for the molecular characterisation of the microbial metagenome,
- an Information System on the microbial diversity of soils and the environment.
GENOSOL is responsible for acquiring, preserving, characterising and making available soil microbial genetic resources (DNA) resulting from large-scale sampling (several hundred to several thousand samples corresponding to large spatial and/or temporal scales).
The aim is to characterise the taxonomic and functional diversity of microbial communities so as to be able to assess and predict changes in the biological functioning of the soil, which may have repercussions in terms of agricultural production, public health and environmental quality.
The GenoSol platform is one of the analytical platforms of the AnaEE-France national research infrastructure and the Conservatoire des Ressources Génétiques Microbiennes is part of the Environment pillar of the RARe infrastructure.
