- Description
GenESI is a unique scheme dedicated to pig farming on a conventional model and an alternative model conducted under the organic farming label. It is equipped with High-performance phenotyping tools.
Missions :
- Conducting experimental protocols in genetics and physiology in pigs aimed at identifying traits of interest for breeding such as robustness, adaptation, behaviour, metabolic efficiency, meat quality, reproduction and programs related to breeding systems.
- To carry out one-off experiments, involving a few animals, of short and long duration on large numbers and conducted over several generations.
- Link and knowledge transfer to a network of organic pig farmers.
- Management and conservation of genetic resources stored in a national secondary porcine and ovine Cryobank.
