Citrus Experimental Facility
- Description
- Description
The Citrus Experimental facility based in Corsica is an experimental facility dedicated to citrus fruit. Research at the Citrus EU focuses on the sustainability of the production system and agro-ecological approaches to citrus growing, particularly in response to the impact of climate change on fruit quality.
Equipment :
- A 90-hectare estate comprising 2,200 m2 of covered structures for experimentation (glass greenhouses, plastic tunnels, insect proof)
- Analytical facilities for characterising the physiological behaviour of trees and the quality of fruit,
- a technology hall equipped with a grading machine and a seed extraction machine, as well as a cryopreservation facility.
The Citrus Experimental Faciliy also hosts and manages the Citrus Biological Resource Centre (CRB), a collection of 900 varieties representative of the genetic diversity of citrus, the largest citrus collection in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Its mission is to maintain, secure and optimise citrus diversity and ensure the dissemination of plant material (seeds, rootstocks, grafts).
