- Description
The UE3P conducts experiments to meet the challenges of tomorrow's pig farming
- by offering phenotyping activities at all physiological stages of the animal, from foetal life to the adult stage, with group or individual monitoring.
- taking into account the relationship between livestock farming and the environment in order to meet the challenges of the agro-ecological transition;
- using experimental models and rearing and experimentation practices that respect animal welfare.
The unit's research on pigs covers a wide range of topics: physiology and metabolism, nutrition and feeding, genetics, health, behaviour and welfare.
The UE3P also offers experimental pig models that serve as model species for humans, and is developing research and training activities in surgery using the pig model.
UE3P is one of the ten INRAE entities making up the LIPH4SAS infrastructure.
